Deens nieuws: ooxml EN odf voor Kontorsoftware
De Deense Mededingingsautoriteit heeft een jaar lang onderzoek gedaan naar de markt voor kantoorsoftware. Ik heb het in de Nederlandse pers nog niet teruggezien wat me enigszins bevreemd. De Denen lopen met dit onderzoek voorop op het gebied van interoperabiliteitsaspecten van documentformaten en de mededingingsaspecten van de kontorsoftwaremarkt. De conclusies zijn als volgt:
- The market for office applications internationally. A Danish decision will only have direct impact on a very small part of the market.
- It will not immediately improve competition to select one of the two standards.
- A choice of OOXML would currently exclude all other than Microsoft, while competition in the choice of odf will take place between exactly the same office packages in a situation where both standards are selected. A choice of odf would not provide the necessary interoperability between office suites.
- The standards are still new and it is uncertain which direction the market is moving in. If you select a single standard and that standard is found not to be the market standard, there is a risk of significant errors of investment.
