Microsoft Learning (dit is een andere afdeling dan de Educatie groep binnen MS) heeft een nieuwe versie van de Microsoft LCDS uitgebracht, versie 2.2. Met deze tool is het mogelijk eenvoudig leercontent te maken. Het educatie team is op dit moment druk bezig met de Grava leertool, in de toekomst zullen deze aparte producten naar elkaar gaan groeien.
The LCDS, or Learning Content Development System, is a forms-based tool for creating e-learning content. The LCDS is designed for authors and trainers who need a quick and easy way to compose e-learning content with all of the re-use and flexibility of the XML format. Fortunately, no knowledge of XML is required in order to use the LCDS. This allows you to focus on creating rich, engaging content and keep pace with the industry evolution to XML, without having to learn any programming.
By using the LCDS, you can:

De grootste verandering in versie 2.2 zijn:
Silverlight support. The LCDS has expanded its Silverlight support to include all components.
Media with Key Points template. This new component lets you offer your learners video (WMV file format) on the left side of their screen and corresponding key points on the right.
Slider template. This new component consists of slider controls, much like those found in common audio volume and equalizer settings. Sliders allow learners to explore the relationships between up to four variables and a given outcome by enabling them to adjust the amounts of each variable and immediately see the outcome.
Interactive Job Aid template. A new component in which you present users with scenarios in the form of yes/no questions offered one at a time, allowing users to select answers based on their own job role or applicable experience and receive dynamic feedback and/or subsequent questions based on the selections they made.
Support for PNG image file type. Now choose from both JPG and PNG files when uploading images.
Norwegian language support.
Limitation on number of topics per lesson increased from 8 to 16.
Limitations on naming of Introduction and Self Test topics removed. You can now rename these topics to any name you desire.
Improved topic navigation user interface in course output.
