Migration Performance for Office 365 Exchange Online
27 August 12 08:14 PM | William van Male | met no comments

Actual mailbox migration performance when you onboard to Office 365 Exchange Online varies. Its dependant on many factors like:

FactorDescriptionExample

Data source

The device/service that hosts the data to be migrated. Many limitations may apply to data source due to hardware specifications, end-user work load, and backend maintenance tasks.

Google Mail limits how much data can be extracted during a specific period of time.

Data type and density

Because of the unique nature of a customer’s business, the type and mix of mail items within mailboxes will vary greatly.

One 4 GB mailbox with 400 items, each with 10 MB attachments will migrate faster than one 4 GB mailbox with 100,000 smaller items.

Migration server

Many migration solutions use a “jump box” type of migration server/workstation to complete the migration.

Customers often use a low performance virtual machine to host the migration server.

Migration engine

The data migration engine that is responsible for pulling data from the source server converts data if necessary, transmits the data over the network, and the injects the data into the Exchange Online mailbox.

Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication Service (MRS)

Network

The end-to-end network performance—from the data source to Exchange Online client access servers—affects migration performance.

Firewall on customer egress point.

Office 365 service

Office 365 has built-in support and features to manage migration workload.

User throttling policy will limit maximum data transfer rate.

workstreampeopleWorkstreampeople is een nederlandse organisatie die specifiek voor Lync een uniek Contact Center product ontwikkeld heeft. Anywhere365 for Lync. Geavanceerde Contact Center features  maar dan voor iedereen in de organisatie. Door de serverbased architectuur en licensing blijft dat ook betaalbaar. Intelligente call routering en klant informatie integratie uit CRM. Mijn top 10 voorbeelden:

  1. Skill based routing
  2. Time based routing (werkuren en vakantiedagen)
  3. Skill based web chat
  4. Salesforce en Microsoft CRM integratie
  5. Wrap-up tijd
  6. Wallboard voor PC en iPad
  7. IVR
  8. Intelligente voicemail
  9. Supervisor listening
  10. Voice recording

Dear [Boss’ Name Here],

I'm interested in attending the Microsoft Exchange Conference 2012 in Orlando September 24th-26th. With the upcoming release of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, there are significant new features that could change how we choose to deploy and use Exchange Server and Office in the future. The conference will feature a complete tech teardown and will provide the depth of insight necessary to make an informed decision about our current email infrastructure and beyond.

This is a great opportunity to actually learn about the product from the engineers who built it. It's the type of information I can't get online or at other conferences. There will be more than 100 sessions on Exchange along with numerous sessions on how to get the most out of current versions of Exchange.

The topics that will be covered in breakout sessions, keynotes and hands-on labs include:

  • Exchange Server 2013 Architecture
  • Security and Protection in the new Exchange
  • Configuring built-in Anti-Malware/Anti-Spam protection
  • Setting up Data Loss Prevention policies
  • Compliance, eDiscovery and Archiving in the new Exchange
  • Exchange Server 2013 Manage Availability and Monitoring
  • Unified Messaging in Exchange Server 2013
  • Exchange Server 2013 Deployment and Exchange Server 2010 Coexistence
  • Moving to the cloud with Exchange Online and Office365

It's going to be three intense days of Exchange and only Exchange. From morning through night, there's a session worth attending that should benefit our company either from a productivity, reliability or budgetary standpoint.

Thank you for considering my request to register for this event. I look forward to your reply.

Regards,

Lync Firewall Rules Viewer

Determining which ports to open and what direction to allow Lync Server 2010 traffic to travel through your firewalls is an important task. Lync administrators need to determine firewall rules and provide this information to their security administrator counterparts. Although this information is readily available from Microsoft Lync Server 2010 product documentation library, the Lync Server 2010 Protocol Workloads Poster, and NextHop blog articles, it can be a tedious process to consume, synthesize, and share the information in a succinct way. The Lync Firewall Rules Viewer solves this problem.

The Lync Firewall Rules Viewer is a Windows 7 application that visually illustrates the network traffic between any pair of server or client Lync endpoints. When the administrator selects a source endpoint in the left pane, the list of possible destination endpoints this source can communicate with is shown in the right pane.
