PST Capture 2.0 is now available - Outlook Personal Folder

PST Capture 2.0 is used to discover and import Outlook Personal Folder (.pst) File Format files into Exchange Server and Exchange Online. PST Capture helps an organization that wishes to gain more control over their email data repositories by placing them into Exchange. By optionally installing PST Capture Agents on target machines, administrators can determine where .pst files are located and who their file owner is via the PST Capture Console. Administrators can import .pst files via Import Lists to Exchange Server or Exchange Online. Data can be directly imported into the primary mailbox or associated archive mailbox.

The following improvements have been made in PST Capture 2.0:

Support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 is added.
Fix profile generation code to use "RPC over HTTP".
The UI is no longer limited to 1000 users when performing an online import.
Fix issue in which online import fails when PST Capture is not installed on Exchange server.

Nieuwe Exchange en Outlook tools beschikbaar

De afgelopen weken zijn vier nieuwe tools beschikbaar gekomen die van dienst kunnen zijn bij het ontwerpen, implementeren en troubleshooten van zowel Exchange als Outlook.

De volgende tools zijn beschikbaar gekomen:

1. Outlook Configuration Analyzer Tool (OCAT), voor Outlook 2007 en Outlook 2010

You can use OCAT to check Outlook configuration on your users' computers and look for known issues (for example, a PST file located on a network share).
We recommend running it if you suspect a user's Outlook profile or configuration to be a part of the problem. You can also run the tool proactively to detect Outlook configuration issues.
Works on Outlook 2007 and 2010 (not on 2003).

2. Outlook Calendar Checking Tool (CalCheck), voor Outlook 2003 en later en Exchange 2003 en later
The Calendar Checking Tool for Outlook (CalCheck) is a command-line program that checks Microsoft Outlook Calendars for problems. The tool opens an Outlook profile to access the Outlook Calendar. It performs various checks, such as permissions, free/busy publishing, delegate configuration, and automatic booking. Then each item in the calendar folder is checked for known problems that can cause unexpected behavior, such as meetings that appear to be missing.
As CalCheck goes through this process, it generates a report that can be used to help diagnose problem items or identify trends. It is a reporting tool only.

3. Exchange Client Network Bandwidth Calculator (Beta)
The brief was concise and simple for this calculator; we wanted to be able to predict the client network bandwidth requirements for a specific set of users. The calculator needed to deal with Outlook, OWA and Mobile Devices, both on-premises and for Office 365 scenarios.

The following clients are included in this Beta; further clients will be added over time. Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, Outlook 2003, OWA 2010, OWA 2007, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone.
Calculator data was validated using real-world customer data.

4. Log Parser Studio

Anyone who regularly uses Log Parser 2.2 knows just how useful and powerful it can be for obtaining valuable information from IIS (Internet Information Server) and other logs. In addition, adding the power of SQL allows explicit searching of gigabytes of logs returning only the data that is needed while filtering out the noise. The only thing missing is a great graphical user interface (GUI) to function as a front-end to Log Parser and a ‘Query Library’ in order to manage all those great queries and scripts that one builds up over time.
Log Parser Studio was created to fulfill this need; by allowing those who use Log Parser 2.2 (and even those who don’t due to lack of an interface) to work faster and more efficiently to get to the data they need with less “fiddling” with scripts and folders full of queries.

With Log Parser Studio (LPS for short) we can house all of our queries in a central location. We can edit and create new queries in the ‘Query Editor’ and save them for later. We can search for queries using free text search as well as export and import both libraries and queries in different formats allowing for easy collaboration as well as storing multiple types of separate libraries for different protocols.

Weg met de PSTs!

Met de komst van Exchange 2010 is het al een tijdje mogelijk om PST-bestanden rechtstreeks in het nieuwe Exchange Online Archive te importeren. Probleem is alleen dat je deze PSTs dan wel eerst moet vinden... Hiervoor zullen we binnenkort een PST Capture Tool lanceren om deze bestanden binnen het bedrijfsnetwerk terug te vinden en ze daarna te importeren in een on-premise Exchange 2010 installatie of in Office 365.
