Microsoft_FRF_PARTICIPATE_600x125

Framerate Fest is a contest where anyone can upload an HTML5-based frame. The contest runs until May 6th 2011. Creating an HTML5-based frame is really easy! You can show off your creativity to the world or just have a goal to start with HTML5. While joining the contest, you can win great prizes like a 3D-print of your creation, publication around your creation and an Xbox 360 with Kinect. Here are some tips to get you started.

The basics

You can take part in the contest with a frame that has a size of 300x300 pixels. The frame is build with four base components: 1 app.html, 1 style.css, 1 custom.js and one /img/ folder. More details can be found here.

Starting a frame

A frame must be created with HTML5. The base of a frame on Framerate Fest is (usually) a canvas. The HTML5 element of type canvas is like a <div> or <table> tag, but the content is rendered with JavaScript.

To easily get you started, download this package which contains a basic app.html, style.css and custom.js. The JavaScript file contains comment to indicate where you can put your drawing code. You are of course free to start your own solution.

Now what?

Be creative! It doesn’t have to be that complex. Maybe you want to bounce the logo of your company or customer around. So, join now on http://www.frameratefest.com.
